Veneta Real Estate & Community Information

Located in Lane County, Oregon, Veneta is a city that’s home to over 4500 residents.  Veneta is also located near the shores of Fern Ridge Reservoir.  Named after his daughter, Edmund Eugene Hunter founded Veneta in 1912. She died at the age of 91 in the year 2000.  Veneta is popular as the site of the annual Oregon Country Fair since 1970, and is legendary to Grateful Dead fans as the location of a concert they played at the fair.

Veneta became the 10th incorporated city in Lane County in 1962.  The need for clean water pushed the decision, due to hepatitis outbreaks at the time.  The Board of Directors of the Veneta Improvement Association originally wanted to form a water district, but went a step further with incorporation. Due to their efforts, Veneta now has a state-of-the art water and sewage system.
